Why stay in homestay?
Totnes is a small, close-knit community so we know our families personally, as well as inspecting them formally every two years, so you know the standard of accommodation will be very good
All our adult and young adult homestays (16 years+) are in walking distance of the school- maximum 20 minutes so you don't need to buy a travel card
You can practise speaking and listening at mealtimes and on the weekends with your family- and if you book meals, you don't have to worry about food
You can choose a full board, half-board or self-catering option. If you are travelling with a friend or member of your family, you can also share a bedroom.
Host families for juniors live in or outside Totnes and our families bring their young guests to and from school every day for lessons and activities so no need for parents to worry about their children's safety. Junior students have the full board option and share a room with another student from their same group (on request or for ministays) or with another student from a different country. Please note shared rooms are not currently offered unless for family members because of COVID restrictions.
All the adults in our under 18 homestay homes are DBS- checked which means their details have been checked against the police database for added peace of mind for you as parents
Mostly though, we recommend homestay as a wonderful way of living our culture to the full!
When you arrive in Totnes, your host will collect you from the coach or train station if possible and show you where to go in the morning. You can relax as soon as you arrive in our lovely town!
